About the Course

This supervisory course is designed for today’s law enforcement leaders who need practical, real-world guidance—not theory. The focus is on the need-to-know “how to” skills required to effectively lead, coach, and manage officer performance in the 21st century. Understanding law enforcement culture, building strong people skills, and learning how to coach officers toward both personal and organizational success are critical competencies for modern supervisors. This 4-hour online class delivers reality-based strategies specifically for first-line supervisors. If you’re looking for a supervisory course that prioritizes application over theory, this is the class you’ve been waiting for. Learning Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will have a practical understanding of American policing, officer recruitment, hiring, and training, as well as the ability to recognize and address generational differences, wellness concerns, and ethical challenges. Participants will strengthen their understanding of law enforcement culture, leadership styles, and first-line supervision while developing effective coaching strategies to improve performance, accountability, and motivation. The course also emphasizes measuring effectiveness, managing resources, and the importance of continuing education.
